1. gotta be a better way to live
2. than killing fast or slow
3. with banging weapons red on metal
4. or poison substances deadly lethal
5. or toxic words no love to give
1. kids growing up too fast
2. or not growing up at all
3. even way past 18 years
4. giving birth to twins
5. called despair and poverty
1. fathered by nothing
2. mothered by fateful hate
3. or hateful fate
4. the graffiti’s hard to read
5. spray painted in shattered blood
1. lovers and relatives crying now
2. cameras film the obscene
3. for public disinformation
1. people are colored alright
2. crime-tape yellow
3. or glaring puke green
4. sanguine red and petroleum black
5. but mostly mortal grey
1. one weapon two lives ruined
2. one dead and one not alive
3. how long must my people wait
4. let my people go sweet heavens
5. free us free them from selfish selves
1. don’t matter skins’ colors babies
2. we’re all dyin’ if we ain’t livin’
3. ain’t no white powder or green cash
4. gonna save our souls from justice
5. nor give young and old folks peace
1. if we can’t stop livin’ for dyin’
2. if we can’t start lovin’ and likin’
3. if we can’t quit the evils within
4. each one ourselves together
5. make new the damaged space
